ARTICLE 1:  Name
     Section 1:  The name of this club shall remain Northwoods Saddle Club.  The colors shall remain royal blue and white.
 
ARTICLE 2:  Purpose
     Section 1:  To promote an interest in horses and horsemanship in people of the area.
     Section 2:  Generally to promote and develop good fellowship among horse lovers in this area.
     Section 3:  To promote understanding of horses and their use and their care.
 
ARTICLE 3:  Meetings
     Section 1:  One official business meeting will be held from April through November and held on the second Thursday of each month, or as agreed upon by majority vote.
 
ARTICLE 4:  Membership
     Section 1:  Annual dues shall be:  $4 per person or $10 per family*, and dues may be paid any time during the year (April to April).
     *Family Membership- Parents or Guardians and their children.
     Section 2:  Classes of membership are as follows :  Kiddie* **  10 years of age or younger on the day of the show,  Peewee*  11-13 years of age on the day of the show,  Junior*  14-17 years of age on the day of the show,  Senior  18 years of age or older,  Duffer**  35 years of age or older.
     *Requires a parent or guardian as a member who will take full responsibility for the Kiddie, Peewee, or  Junior member's actions.
     **This class only runs on Ribbon Playdays.
     Section 3:  Members must be 10 years of age or older to vote on club issues or elected officers.
     Section 4:  Elected officers must be paid members.
     Section 5:  Elected officers will lose their post if they are not attending meetings or if members feel they are not doing an appropriate job.
     Section 6:  Members accepted into the club shall be of good character and subject to acceptance by the members.  For infractions of the by-laws, any member may be suspended or expelled from the club by majority of club members.
     Section 7:  Any member willfully displaying his horse carelessly, endangering persons or property, or conducting themselves in an unmannerly fashion when riding as a club member, may be immediately expelled or suspended by majority vote of members.
     Section 8:  To pass on club business, a quorum of simple majority of five voting members at the monthly meeting is required.
     Section 9:  Absolutely no alcohol allowed at any Northwoods Saddle Club events.
 
ARTICLE 5:  Liability
     Section 1:  The Northwoods Saddle Club, will not be responsible for the injury or damage to any persons, stock, tack, equipment or property.
 
ARTICLE 6:  Officers
     Section 1:  Nominations of officers shall be made at the monthly business meeting before elections.  Election of officers will take place at the beginning of each new year.
     Section 2:  The executive board will consist of Six members:  President, Vice-president, Secretary, Treasurer, Senior Advisor, and Junior Advisor.
     Section 3:  The president shall appoint officers to fill temporary or other vacancies until the next elections, with approval of the board.
     Section 4:  With approval of the board the president may sign such contracts as deeds, leases, and other contracts necessary to further the interest of the club.
     Section 5:  The treasurer, with approval of the board shall be authorized to sign checks for the club.
     Section 6:  The retiring president shall automatically become the senior/junior advisor depending upon age, until replaced by the elections.
 
ARTICLE 7:  Club By-Laws
     Section 1:  Any changes in or additions to the club by-laws are to be proposed at the regular meetings and are to be voted on by 11 voting members at the following meeting.
 
ARTICLE 8:  Parades
     Section 1:  Each rider will exhibit themselves with respect for the club.
     Section 2:  Riders are required to wear formal riding attire:  including boots, western shirt, hats are optional,  or the club T-shirts, sweatshirt, or Jackets.  This includes all lead-ins and the person leading the horse.  Persons leading can wear comfortable shoes but the lead-in riders must still wear boots.
     Section 3:  All riders are required to stay in a uniform line throughout the parade.  Generally in lines of two.
     Section 4:  No rider will pass the flag at the end of the parade.  Everyone will continue in order unless there is specific reason.
     Section 5:  Pooper scuppers and flag carriers will be assigned in the beginning of the year, on a sign up sheet.  If  you are unable to scoop poop, it is your responsibility to find a replacement and to inform the board of the changes.
     Section 6:  A fine will be imposed if the flags are misused.  It is the responsibility of the flag carrier to make  sure that the flags are returned to the flag keeper.  Flags will be handed out the day of the parade.
     Section 7:  You are responsible for your horse's actions.  You must have complete control at all times.
     Section 8:  If you appear at the parade under equipped you will not be allowed to ride in the parade for safety sake.
 
ARTICLE 9:  Ribbon Playdays
     Section 1:  You must wear jeans and boots.  T-shirts and tank tops are acceptable.
     Section 2:  The person leading the horse through the games may wear comfortable shoes, instead of boots.

ARTICLE 10:  Horse Shows
     Section 1:  You must wear western wear for morning classes:  jeans, hat, boots, western shirt, or collared long sleeved shirt, and belt.
     Section 2:  For gaming events jeans, boots, and western shirt (that can be sleeveless or polo shirts) are all that is required.
     Section 3:  Only all single class timed events will go toward high point.
 
ARTICLE 11:  Riding Rules
     Section 1:  No hitting in front of the saddle with anything.  To do so results in disqualification.
     Section 2:  You may use a leather flat bat.  No crop, whips, quirts, ect.
     Section 3:  When leaving the arena runway, stop you horse and walk out.
     Section 4:  The use of foul language while in the arena will not be tolerated and will result in your disqualification.
     Section 5:  To show a stallion you must be 18 years of age or older.
     Section 6:  No tying your horse to the arena rails or posts, or sitting on the rails.
     Section 7:  In pleasure classes bosals and hackmores are allowed.  Reins are to be split and unknotted.
     Section 8:  No one is allowed to ride near the Timber Hall.  There is a designated riding area if you want to ride away form the arena.  If you do not know where it is, please ask.  You will be responsible for your actions if you are caught riding out of the designated area.
 
ARTICLE 12:  Arena Rules
     Section 1:  Article 11, Section 8 also applies here.
     Section 2:  Only members are allowed in the arena on practice days.  All others are to pay $1 per day to ride in the arena. 
     Section 3:  For all scheduled arena activities members are to wear jeans and boots.
     Section 4:  Trail rides you must wear boots and casual wear.
